But the point is, searching on native with the full database local could be faster under certain conditions. Opera's mail client would sometimes be able to filter email messages each keystroke, which is nice. Switching folders is usually faster because it doesn't take a full-page reload (or full refreshes are faster when there's no network latency). So it either paginates, or at best it might be able to do inifiniscroll with latency every time I hit the next batch. A web page doesn't like having all 112,234,234 of my historic emails loaded into my browser at once. If I want to find an email from a few weeks back, I just scroll down until I get there. Native interfaces don't have those constraints. I'm slightly more a fan of Outlook's webmail interface, but even so, I think there are just fundamental aspects of the webmail interface paradigm that are forced by constraints of the browser. Some of them have been tolerable, but I just kinda don't like them. I've never been a fan of the gmail web interface.
